Description

A refreshing Greek yogurt-based sauce or dip perfect for pairing with grilled meats or as a dip for vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2% for best texture)
  • ½ cup finely grated cucumber (about ½ medium cucumber)
  • 12 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 12 tbsp fresh dill (finely chopped or 1 tsp dried dill)
  • ¼ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber, then place it in a clean towel or paper towel and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. This step is key for a thick, creamy tzatziki.
  2. In a bowl, add the Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Fold in the grated cucumber. Mix until evenly distributed.
  4. Refrigerate for 15–30 minutes to let the flavors come together.
  5. Adjust salt, lemon juice, or dill based on preference.

Notes

  • For a thicker tzatziki, ensure that the cucumber is well-drained.
  • Can be served chilled or at room temperature.
