- 11 strawberries, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 3 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature (for frosting)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons sifted matcha
Instructions
- Heat the whole milk to lukewarm and mix with yeast and sugar, letting it froth for 5 minutes.
- Add eggs, vanilla, and melted butter to the mixture and whisk until smooth.
- Add flour and salt gradually to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about an hour.
- Combine chopped strawberries, sugar, water, and cornstarch in a bowl to create the filling.
- Roll the risen dough into a rectangle and spread the strawberry filling evenly.
- Roll the dough tightly from one edge and slice it into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking pan and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Beat cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar until fluffy, then mix in sifted matcha for the frosting.
- Store leftover rolls at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
